Worth it if…
Yes as the Seattle experience: the glass benches lean you out over the city, the rotating glass floor below is a real novelty (you watch the elevators climb beneath your feet), and the view has Mount Rainier, the Sound, and the skyline in separate directions. First visit to Seattle, this is the deck.
Pick another deck if…
You want maximum height or minimum crowds — Sky View Observatory is nearly 400 ft higher, half the queue, and cheaper; it looks AT the Space Needle with the skyline behind it. Locals and repeat visitors often call Sky View the better view for that reason.

Best time to visit
90 minutes before sunset on a clear day — Rainier to the southeast and the Olympics to the west both catch the light, and you ride out the blue hour over Elliott Bay.

Tips from the deck
- Book the day's last clear-weather slot rather than a fixed sunset time — Seattle cloud moves fast and timed tickets are cheaper midweek.
- The Loupe Lounge reservation gets you the glass floor with a cocktail and no upcharge queue — compare it against the plain ticket before buying.
- Kerry Park, 10 minutes north, is the free postcard shot OF the Needle — shoot there at golden hour, then ride the Needle after dark.
- The monorail from Westlake Center is still the fastest way in from downtown and a piece of the same 1962 fair.

The upper level is open-air behind tilting glass panels — you feel the weather without fencing in your photos. The Loupe level below is enclosed, with the revolving glass floor.
Space Needle for the icon, the glass floor, and the open air; Sky View for height (902 ft vs 520), shorter lines, and the view that includes the Space Needle itself. Photographers often prefer Sky View.
60–90 minutes: timed elevator, both Tophouse levels, and the glass floor. Add time if you have a Loupe Lounge reservation or hit a sunset crowd.
